OUR STRATEGY

The Approach

Overcoming the challenges of Biblical illiteracy with the power of visual storytelling.

The Problem

Our culture has lost its Biblical worldview — and people don't live in a vacuum. They need answers to the fundamental questions: Where did we come from? What's wrong with the world? What's the solution? Without a Biblical foundation, dangerous and perverse worldviews are filling the gap and spreading overnight through social media.

For almost 20 years, social media has reprogrammed how we consume information — image, snippet of text, scroll, repeat… for hours every day. Literacy is declining, and longform Bible reading sits behind a high barrier of entry for most people. The Bible — a 2,000-page book — now sits behind a very high barrier of entry.

In Luke 24, the first two sermons Jesus gave His followers on the day of His resurrection explained the things written about Himself in all the Scriptures. Throughout the book of Acts, this content was preached 12 times by seven different people. Yet today, this fundamental aspect of our faith is rarely taught.

THE SOLUTION

Why a Graphic Novel?

The graphic novel format meets people exactly where they are — using the same image-and-text pattern social media has normalized, but filled with the Gospel and Old Testament prophecies pointing to Christ.

Efficiency of Format
Scientific studies based on the Dual Coding Theory of Cognition show that pairing an image with text enhances memory retention for both. Our brains process text and images in different areas, making graphic novels a powerful learning tool.
Education icon
Educational Power
Graphic media has proven highly effective for teaching content. Slow, reluctant readers and those with learning disabilities gravitate to graphic materials. Even West Point military academy requires graphic novels for reading.
Listening icon
Enticing to the Unevangelized
Intricate and well-designed graphic novel art is a compelling format for an unchurched person to pick up and peruse. The graphic adaptation of Scripture provides an enticing gateway to the Gospel.
Globe icon
Transcultural
Billions of people worldwide read visual story media — known as comics, manga, manhwa, komika, and many other names across cultures. The format is one of the most widely read forms of literature.
Dissemination icon
Rapid Dissemination
Of the 7,378 languages worldwide, only 717 have a completed Bible. Graphical and animated explanations of Scripture fast-track the delivery of a holistic overview of God's Word.

Overcoming Illiteracy
Over 50% of U.S. adults have reading comprehension skills below a 6th-grade level. Social media has trained society to ingest small portions of text alongside graphic depictions, making the graphic novel format ideal.
